Adrian Jones led this walk on Sat 6 Apr. By popular request this was a repeat of the the walk he led on 10 Feb and is in two parts; the first is north from Meriden and is about 4 miles long. It is mostly on footpaths, with some woodland, some short lengths of lane and 4 or 5 stiles. The second part is south from Meriden and almost all of it is on footpaths.

A circular walk of around 9 miles led by Steve White from The Queen's Head in Meriden on Sun 19 Nov. The address for The Queen's Head is Old Rd, Meriden, Coventry CV7 7JP and you can find it here in Google Maps. The route goes to Hawks End and back past the edge of Corley Moor on footpaths and quiet lanes.

Wayman & Beverley led a walk on Sun 24 Sep from The Bear Inn, Berkswell (Google Maps). The route of just over 8.5 miles (13.7km) skirts Eastern Green and then comes back via Millison’s Wood and Meriden. The walk is mainly on footpaths across fields with a short detour into Millison’s Wood.

An Amble from Meriden

This circular route of just under 6 miles (or just over 9.5km) from The Queen’s Head (Old Rd, Meriden, Coventry CV7 7JP) is mainly on rural footpaths with some sections on quiet country lanes. The route passes through Eaves Green, Meriden Shafts and Harvest Hill before returning to The Queens Head in Meriden. The walk was led by Evan Grant, starting at 10am on Sat 16 Sep.

A Macmillan Walk from Meriden

This walk was led by Anne Dewison from The Queen's Head, Meriden, CV7 7JP on Sunday 26th was around 7 miles long.

 

During the walk there was a stop for cakes and coffee, courtesy of Sara Carson who was raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This was party of a wider Carson family fundraising effort which includes Sara & Stuart's son Tom running the London Marathon on 23 April. The route was inspired by the 8 mile Circular Walk from Meriden on the Millennium Way website and Berkswell from Meriden using the Millennium Way on Walking Britain. Compared to these, this route has been modified to accommodate HS2 footpath closures.

A circular walk of almost 9 miles from The Bear Inn, Spencers Lane, Berkswell, CV7 7BB. The walk is mostly on footpaths through fields, though there are some short stretches along roads. There is ample car parking at The Bear.

A Circular Walk from Meriden

This walk started from The Queen's Head in Meriden (CV7 7JP) and was led by Denis Pratt. The walk was approximately 8 miles long.

 

The route leaves the Queens Head carpark and continues along Eaves Green Lane, cutting across fields and passing under the A45, through Eaves Green village to a bridleway towards Corley Moor. From Corley Moor it skirts the edge of Birchley Hays Wood to the B4102 road which is obliquely crossed to footpaths going through Kinwalsey and Close Wood, High Ash Farm and back to the A45 which is crossed via the B4102 bridge. From there the walk followed a footpath across farmland back to Old Road and The Queen's Head.

A Hike from Meriden led by Sharron Maguire

This walk starts from the Queens Head at Meriden, CV7 7JP, will be led by Sharron Maguire and start at 9.00 am. It will be approximately 9 miles long .

The walk takes in some lovely views and is through fields, farmland and woods with a stop at the tree under which John Wesley preached. It heads east towards Eaves Green and then Harvest Hill and turns northwards towards Corley Moor. Skirting Birchley Hayes Wood it comes to John Wesley's tree. From there it returns to the Queen's Head for a well earned drink.

A Hike from Berkswell via Meriden

This hike starts from the Bear Inn at Berkswell, CV7 7BB at 9.00 am and is approx. 10 miles long and will be led by Bob Reid.

 

From the Bear Inn the walk proceeds to Berkswell parish church and then past Berkswell Hall following the Heart of England Way. It soon leaves the HoE Way to follow the Millennium Way via sixteen acre wood, sand and gravel pits up to Meriden Hall. It continues to follow Millennium Way through Church Farm,Spring Wood and Flints Green to Benton Green and then makes its way back to Berkswell.

Circular Walk from Meriden through Corley Moor and back via Eaves Green

Walk Description: the walk starts at the Queens Head public house car park in Meriden, CV7-7JP. The walk is approximately 8.5 miles and takes some 3.5 hours. From the front of the car park turn right along the road towards Meriden village for 200 yards to a gate in the hedge on the right, go through and proceed ahead across the field to a gate opposite. Turn right with the hedge on the right to the corner of the field and turn left with a hedge on your left, proceed ahead ta farm gate leading onto Fillongley Road. Cross the road and turn right for 1/4 mile, crossing the A45, to a gate in the hedge on the left, go through the gate and follow the path ahead to a gate leading into a wooded area. Bear left after the gate and go through the wood, as you come out of the wood through a gate go ahead along the edge of a cultivated field, through another gate and then across the middle of a another cultivated field which falls away to a farm track, aiming for a gap between trees.

A Circular Walk from Berkswell to Meriden Shafts via Millison's Wood

Walk Description: the walk starts from the carpark opposite to Berkswell reading room, CV7-7BB, and is approximately 7.5 miles long, easy going with no significant inclines. The walk follows the Heart of England Way to the Meridan Shafts. From the carpark, cross the Meriden Road and turn left away from the village centre and proceed for about 300 metres along the road and then go right up a track waymarked Heart of England Way. Cross a cattle grid and pass Blind Hall Farm on your left continuing uphill to another cattle grid, follow the track round to the right and continue to a stile. Over the stile turn half left and go diagonally across a cultivated field passing a copse on your left to another stile, follow the HoE waymark keeping the hedge on your left to another stile. Continue with the hedge on your left, crossing a stile and going through a hedge gap. When the hedge on your left ends, maintain direction to join a hedge on your right, following it to a stile/gate on to a road opposite a house called the Byre.
