This Amble from The Red Lion in Claverdon on 22 Dec was led by Mary Coles. The route is entirely on country lanes so is especially good for when the fields are very muddy.

An Amble from The Plough Inn, Shustoke

This walk from The Plough Inn, Shustoke, B46 2AN was led by Colin & Jane Niblock on 24 Nov2024 in wet and quite windy weather. The route goes through North Warwickshire countryside around Shustoke Reservoirs. This route is liable to have muddy stretches in wet winter months. 

 

The walk was followed by an excellent Sunday lunch in the pub!

This Amble of about 4 1/2 miles from the Fentham Hall Car Park, Hampton-in-Arden to Barston and back was led by Evan & Carol Grant and followed the route of Cameron's Night Walk as closely as possible. After the walk we enjoyed a very pleasant Sunday Lunch in The White Lion on the High Street in Hampton-in-Arden.

This walk started from the village hall and playing fields at Chadwick End, at 10.00am on Saturday 20th July and was led by Adrian Jones. The carpark is at the beginning of the village (from the Knowle direction, A4141) and on the left hand side, about 50 yards before The Orange Tree pub, B93 0BL.  The walk will be some 5 miles long through fields and along canal towpaths and quiet roads.

An Amble in the Lickey Hills

This walk from the Lickey Hills Country Park Visitor Centre, B45 8ER was led by Colin and Jane Niblock on Sat 25 May. The route is a varied one of 5 miles / 8 km.

 

From the Visitor Centre the route starts south along the crest of Cofton Hill before descending to the base and continuing north along the base and then turning right into Cofton Hacket and reaching Cofton Church Lane. Along the lane, over the railway and then south to Lower Bittel Reservoir where the route goes south west to Barnt Green village and through the village via the station to Pinfields Wood. From there it heads in a northerly direction through the wood to Lickey Warren and back to the Visitor Centre.

A Walk from Hunningham

This walk from The Red Lion Hunningham (CV33 9DY) was let on Sun 12 May by Bob Reid. This route progresses from Hunningham to Weston under Wetherley and then due north along The Millennium Way to Weston Lane and then south and east to Wappenbury and back to Hunningham. The route is around 5 miles long and is mainly on rural footpaths and bridleways,  with short stretches on minor roads.

An Amble from Wootton Wawen

This walk from The Bull's Head, Stratford Road, Wootton Wawen, B95 6BD on Saturday 13th April was led by Andrew & Helen Collis. It is just over 4.5 miles long.

 

From The Bull's Head the walk quickly goes onto rural fields and then follows the path of the River Alne. At the end of a long disused railway line it then continues for about a mile along a reasonably quiet country lane with good verges and visibility of traffic. It then heads across fields, crossing a live  but infrequent train line (take extra care though on crossing!). It then follows the towpath along the Stratford upon Avon Canal and then across fields coming out in Wootton Wawen opposite the ancient church. A short distance along the road and back to the Bulls Head which specialises in "fiercely authentic thai" food but also serves some traditional pub dishes.

An Amble from the Hatton Arms

This walk started from the Hatton Arms, Hatton, CV35 7JJ, at 10.00 am on Saturday 30th. March and was led by Bob Reid. It was approximately 5 miles long. 

 

From the Hatton Arms the walk follows Shakespeare's Avon Way through Budbrooke into Hampton on the Hill before turning off towards Grove Park. From there go north bypassing Hatton Country World to the Grand Union Canal, turn right onto the towpath and back to the Hatton Arms.

An Amble from Barston

This walk from The Bulls Head, Barston, B92 0JU was led by Bill & Sue Kiely on 16 Mar. The route goes via Barston Church to the Heart of England way and then follows the Heart of England Way to Wootton Grange. From there to Wootton Lane and thence to Barston Lane which is left by a path through woodland and then back to Barston. The route is about 5 miles in length.

An Amble around Blythe Valley Park

We walked this circuit from the gated car park for ZF Hub UK, Central Boulevard, Blythe Valley Park, Solihull, B90 8BG on Sat 2 Mar 2024. We were led by Garry Chiles who works at ZF; if you want to try this walk, please find another parking place in the Blythe Valley Park or Illshaw Heath.

  

The walk is on country park paths, footpaths through fields and a canal towpath. There were quite a few wet and muddy patches when we did this. It will be good underfoot in summer. There are a couple of easy stiles on the route.

An Amble from the Fleur De Lys

An amble from the Fleur De Lys, Lapworth St, Lowsonford, Henley-in-Arden, B95 5HJ led by John and Sue Timperley.

 

The walk went from Lowsonford to Pinley Green and then to Claverdon and back to Lowsonford via Yarningale Common and along the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal. When we did this walk on 17 Feb 2024 there were several very wet and muddy stretches, so come prepared! The route takes in many little-used footpaths which makes it unusual and different. There are a large number of stiles a couple of which are tricky for large dogs, and many of which are in semi-disrepair.

The walk consists of mainly rural footpaths and bridle ways and crosses a racing stable gallop track but has one steep downhill slope and passes through a few attractive villages, Little Alne, Gt. Alne and Walcote.

The walk is approximately 4.5 miles long and follows footpaths towards Kenilworth along a route that includes open farmland, a stretch along Chase Lane and a section through woodland.

This walk started from the Prince Harry Car Park, Prince Harry Rd., Henley in Arden, B95-5GD, on Saturday 5th. August at 10.00am and was led by Bob Reid. The walk is about 4 miles.  Starting from the Car Park, the route goes to Bear Lane via the High St., and then alongside the railway to the Golf Club. From there the walk follows a circular route on rural footpaths and arrives back at Henley Station and then to the carpark.
