A walk of around 8 miles (13km) from The Plough (The Green,
Shustoke, Warwickshire, B46 2AN - Google Maps link for The Plough) led by
Pete and Sharron on Sun 9 Mar.
The route starts past the access road to Shustoke Reservoir car park then follows a stretch of the Centenary Way before cutting off towards Nether Whitacre. In the graveyard at St Giles
Nether Whitacre there is a row of cast white metal cross headstones which form one line. They all belong to the one family who according to village belief all suffered from tuberculocis and died
in their teens and twenties. For more information please see The Tragic Riley Family.
From Nether Whitacre the route takes a number of small lanes passing Whitacre Hall and Botts Green heading in the direction of Furnace End until re-joining the Centenary Way to skirt the
reservoir and return to the pub. The hike has only a few stiles and is about 50/50 farmland and small, quiet lanes.
