This walk on Saturday 5th June started at 9.30am from the Griffin Inn at Shustoke, B46 2LB (Google Maps) and was led by Angus Mills. The route is about 8.5 miles long taking in a wide variety of Warwickshire countryside. It starts by skirting Shustoke reservoir before heading south to Dumble Wood where it picks up the Heart of England Way to Parsons Wood before returning to the Griffin Inn via the disused Daw Mill Colliery. For those who wear shorts at this time of year, please note that there is a section of about 400 metres after leaving Daw Mill Colliery which is a little overgrown with a good helping of nettles: our legs were left tingling a little after the recce. The Griffin Inn has an excellent and large beer garden with great views, has a choice of 8-10 real ales and serves great food.
