The Dales Way

From 28 April 2018 to 3 May, a group from Hampton Hikers successfully took on The Dales Way, a long distance footpath of about 80 miles (128 km) running from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere.

These are some of the photos taken along the way by Bob and Mary, with a summary of each day by Mary too.

28 April: Dales Way Day 1 was all about Wharfedale and its multi-faceted river.

29 April: Dales Way Day 2 was mainly about wild moors, lots of lambs around Kettlewell and the beautiful village of Hubberholme with a church, a pub and a farm.

30 April: Dales Way Day 3 was mainly about remote wet bogs, the highest point on the route and spectacular views of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

1 May: Dales Way Day 4 was mainly about a boggy short cut that wasn't, viaducts on the Settle to Carlisle line and the beautiful Dentdale.

2 May: Dales Way Day 5 was mainly about more viaducts, the beautiful Lune Valley and the stunning Lake District fells.

3 May: Dales Way Day 6 was mainly about more beautiful river banks, the Lake District fells above Windermere and the satisfaction of making it to the end.
