A walk of around 8 miles in rolling Warwickshire countryside starting and ending at The Newbold Comyn Arms, Newbold Terrace East, Leamington Spa, CV32 4EU
From the pub car park we will walk east down Newbold Terrace East until we arrive at a play park on the right and a couple of car parks opposite. We head left through the car parks joining a tree lined footpath which is a continuation of Greenwood Court and which runs alongside the Golf Course. We turn right (East) along this path until we pick up signs for the Millennium Way on our left. Turning left we cross the Golf course heading broadly North along the Millennium Way towards Cubbington. Contrary to the OS Map the route across the Golf Course is at 90 degrees to the path that we are leaving and does not go diagonally to the right: there is no signage at this point but it appears again after crossing the Golf Course and is good from this point. We follow the Millennium Way passing Redhouse Farm before we skirt around a wooded area ('The Runghills') and on towards Glebe Farm. Just before Glebe Farm the path ahead starts to climb and there is a gate on the right which is easy to miss. We don’t climb the slope and instead pass through the metal gate on the right, taking the path that continues in the same direction passing directly through Glebe Farm and continuing North towards Cubbington ...
... Upon arriving at Cubbington we cross Offchurch Road, turning right and then immediately left along North Close which leads (via a footpath) onto Queen Street where we turn right passing the Warwickshire Beer Company; we walk along Queen Street to a crossroads where we continue ahead passing the Kings Arms pub on the right and St Mary's Church the left. After a short distance slightly uphill the path leaves the road on the right near a play park (signposted Millennium Way); we walk alongside the play park and then turn right towards South Cubbington Wood which we pass directly through before continuing towards Weston Hall at which point we turn right and then after a short distance left towards Bridge Farm. Before reaching Bridge Farm we leave the Millennium Way and head South towards Offchurch (there is an outbuilding at this point with a footpath to the left; we continue past this outbuilding through a metal gate and turn immediately right at this point keeping the hedge on our right). Following the path ahead we cross the River Leam and a little later arrive at a collection of farm buildings which we keep on our left, heading slightly right at this point where we pick up signs for the path ahead which continues South through a wooded area passing Manor Farm before emerging in Offchurch opposite The Stag Pub.
We turn right at this point and walk about 100 yards past one road junction where we cross the road to pick up the path again. We follow the path ahead across a field which becomes quite a diagonal slope downwards to the right; we continue ahead reaching a single lane tarmac track where we turn right heading towards a large Cedar tree and an archway in the trees through which the road passes. Upon reaching the Cedar tree we turn left following the path ahead until we reach two footbridges - the second being an impressive and attractive aluminium footbridge.
We cross both bridges and continue right walking on a diagonal which moves slightly away from the river leading to a style with three steps in the corner of the field. Passing through the gate we continue ahead reaching a hedge gap on the right which we pass through and then head diagonally right across a field of crops towards some trees forming the boundary of Newbold Comyn Park. Upon entering the wooded area we turn left (ignoring the path ahead/right) and continue around the edge of Newbold Comyn Park. We arrive at a metal gate with some playing fields ahead; at this point we pass through the gate and turn hard right for a short distance to reach another metal gate which takes us onto the tree lined footpath that we walked along very early on in the walk (the continuation of Greenwood Court). We turn left (West) at this point and continue along this path until we arrive at the two car parks that we walked through at the beginning of the walk; we turn left here, passing through the car parks towards the play park. Upon reaching the road (Newbold Terrace East) we turn right and walk a short distance to the Leisure Centre and The Newbold Comyn Arms.
