A Circular Walk from Whitacre Heath via Kingsbury Water Park

This walk is approximately 9.3 miles and starts from the carpark of The Swan Inn, Whitacre Heath, B46 2JA. It starts by following the Heart of England Way to Kingsbury Water Park and then following the Centenary Way back to Whitacre Heath.

From the carpark turn right to a T-Junction at which turn right again and follow the road for 1/4 mile where a road joins from the right, opposite the road there is a gate in the hedge signed HoE Way, go through the gate and across the middle of a cultivated field to a stile in the hedge, go over the stile and across the middle of a second cultivated field to a gate in the hedge leading onto a lane. Cross the lane onto a track passing several attractive houses, follow the signed bridleway ahead, going through a gate and continue through an avenue of trees to reach a gate into a field. go diagonally across this field aiming well to the right of a barn. At the far side of the field follow the HoE Way waymark gently uphill to reach a road at Foul End.

Go straight ahead along the road signed for Hurley, for about 1/4 mile, then at a waymark just before just before some houses turn left across a footbridge hidden in the undergrowth into a cultivated field. walk down the side of the field with a hedge on your left, when the hedge finishes go half-right and diagonally across the field to a hedge corner on the far side. Here turn right keeping the hedge on your left and following the HoE waymark to reach a stile in the corner of the field. Continue beside the hedge on your left, crossing a footbridge/stile and maintaining direction to reach a stile onto a road.

Turn left onto the road for approx. 300 yards and take the first turn on the right along a farm track, at a sharp left-hand bend in the track go straight ahead and follow the hedge on your right to reach an oak tree where the hedge ends. Here turn half-left and go diagonally across the middle of a cultivated field heading to the left of the church tower. At the far side of the field is a rifle range protected by a high hedge, turn left keeping the hedge on the right. At the end of the hedge turn right and aim to pass in front of a group of huts, when you have passed these huts go straight ahead to the edge of the rifle range, there turn right at the hedge keeping the hedge on the right. Follow the hedge to the corner of the field turning left there to keep the hedge on your right to reach the main road.

Cross the road and enter a field with a hedge on the right, follow the hedge to the field corner, there, turn right with a wire fence on the left for a short distance and then turn left and through a bridge under the railway. At the far side of the bridge follow the footpath through a very wild and overgrown conservation area, through a copse and a board walk to a well kept grassed area leading to the main road in Kingsbury.  Cross the road and turn right, follow the pavement over Church Road and continue for about 600 yards along the Tamworth Road past the church and a public house to a track on the left just past a bus shelter, turn left down the track. Where the track forks, keep to the left along the edge of the church yard, this path leads down several steps onto a raised section which in turn leads to a bridge across the river Thame. Cross the bridge and maintain direction into Kingsbury Water Park. Keep following the track with water on your left, after about 1/4 mile the HoE turns right over a miniature railway track, go straight on here following the Centenary Way signs round a left-hand bend keeping the water on the left. Follow the Centenery Way signs through the water park which will eventually lead to a road, turn right along the road. Just before a bridge over the river Thame turn right between a wooded area on your right and the river on the left and proceed a short distance going under a road bridge, after the road bridge turn right along a footpath running parallel to the road on the right. Follow this path for some 1000 yards until you arrive at a road, cross the road. Still following Centenery Way signs go through a gate in a fence and turn left between the fence on the left and a wooded area on the right, keep following this path for just over 1/2 mile until it comes to a road in the village of Lea Marston.

Turn left along the road, over a railway bridge for approx. 1 mile into the village of Whitacre Heath. When you arrive at a T-junction the Swan Inn car park is over the road, cross the road for a well earned pint.
