Walk Description: this walk is approximately 8.5 miles, the elevation varies by some 25 metres with no steep gradients. The walk starts at the Barn Motel on the A3400 (B94 6NX) where there is free car parking.
The walk starts by crossing the A3400 and proceeding down a waymarked track directly opposite the Barn. The track leads to a kissing gate from which a footpath runs through a band of trees, this path bends right into an open field. After some 250 yards turn right down a waymarked footpath which goes across five cultivated fields for about 1/2 mile to a stile in a hedge. Turn half left and proceed diagonally across a meadow to a road. At the road turn left and after 50 yards turn right up a waymarked track, at the end of the track turn left and skirt round three sides of a field keeping the hedge on your left until you see a stile in the hedge on your left. Cross the stile and proceed to a drive past houses to a road.
Turn right along the road to a T-junction, at the junction look for a stile slightly to the right with a path continuing in the same direction. Keep ahead across the middle of a field and cross a stile into another field, continue in the same direction to a gate leading onto a road. Turn right along the road for a short distance then cross a stile on the left and proceed diagonally across a meadow to a kissing gate, you will see Packwood House slightly to the right, proceed along the right hand edge of Gorse Wood until you meet the old driveway to Packwood House, turn half left so that you are going away from Packwood House. Continue for about 1/2 mile until you reach a road, turn right and almost immediately turn left to Uplands Farm. Just as reach the farm buildings turn right with the farm buildings on your left go through a kissing gate across a grassy area to a path leading to a farm drive, turn left along the drive until you meet a road.
Turn left onto the road, go over a railway bridge and walk along the road for some 400 yards to a canal bridge, just before the canal bridge turn right onto the towpath of the Grand Union Canal. Proceed along the towpath for about 1 mile until you go over a bridge crossing the link canal, on the far side of bridge turn sharp right along the towpath of the link canal and head towards Kingswood Junction. At the junction go ahead to the north section of the Stratford Canal (do not turn left onto the south section), and proceed along the towpath of the Stratford Canal for some 3 miles. At canal bridge 23 leave the canal and go right along Ashford Lane, just after a left hand bend in the road take a waymarked footpath to the right and proceed in a straight line across meadows heading for houses in front. Go through a gate onto a track which brings you back to the Barn Motel.
