Walk Description: this walk is approximately 8 miles over undulating ground and easy underfoot. The walk started from the Fleur de Lys public house in Lowsonford where there is free car parking.
Leaving the Fleur de Lys car park turn left along the road and then left over the canal bridge, immediately after the canal bridge go left through a gate onto a grassy footpath going uphill. At the top of the hill turn right through a kissing gate and follow the path with a fence on your right, follow the path round to the right and back down hill till you meet Narrow Lane. Cross Narrow Lane and go down a rough track, passing through a farm gate into a field follow the waymark uphill over a stile and across another field downhill to a junction of 5 footpaths. Take the foot path straight ahead (3rd. one round) which is enclosed by bushes and trees, follow this path to a road, turn left along the road to Holywell village.
At a road junction in the village turn right and follow the road around a left-hand bend, take a track on your right and follow it to a stile into a field, keep ahead across this field and you will come to a hedge, keep the hedge on your right-hand side. You will arrive at a stile leading to a bridge across a stream and over another stile into a field, proceed along the edge of the field keeping the hedge on your left which brings you to a road.
Turn right for 100 yards then turn left along a road through a wooded area, follow this road round left-hand and right-hand bends until you come to a T-junction, turn right and follow the road to a rural cross roads, here, turn left onto a track leading to some trees and take a waymarked footpath on your left, over a stile onto an enclosed footpath.
Follow waymarked route in accordance with the map below, to the road, turn right into Claverdon village. Go straight across the cross roads in the village, and follow the road around a right-hand bend and take the second road on the right. After about 50 yards take a footpath on the right between houses, through a kissing gate into a field, keep ahead through a second kissing gate and follow a fenced path until a 4-way junction of footpaths is reached, turn right, keeping the fence on your left. On reaching a bridleway, turn right for a short distance and then turn left onto a waymarked footpath. Keep ahead for about 1/2 mile across fields to a lane, turn right for a short distance and take a footpath to the right on a left-hand bend, cross a stile and go diagonally across the field to another stile, then go downhill across the middle of a meadow to a stile at the bottom leading to a lane. Turn right onto the lane and proceed along the lane for 1/4 mile around a sharp right-hand bend, shortly after the bend take a footpath on the left through a gate.
Turn left at a hedge to a gate with a sign warning of "loose chickens", through the gate and proceed across meadows until you reach the canal bridge, cross the bridge and turn right along the towpath. Follow the towpath for some 2.1/2 miles until you reach the bridge 31, then leave the canal and go right across the bridge and follow the road round to the right to the Fleur de Lys.
